The Central Government on Thursday (May 1) notified the transfer of Justice Kumbhajadala Manmadha Rao from Andhra Pradesh High Court to Karnataka High Court.

The notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice states:

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Dr. Justice Kumbhajadala Manmadha Rao, Judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court, to be a Judge of the Karnataka High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Karnataka High Court".

Last month the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended that transfer of seven High Court Judges with a view to "infuse inclusivity and diversity" and "to strengthen the quality of administration of justice."
