Bombay High Court Quashes FIR Lodged By Rakhi Sawant Against Ex-Husband Adil Durrani U/S 498A & 377 IPC
The Bombay High Court has quashed an FIR lodged by celebrity Rakhi Sawant against her ex-husband Adil Durrani under section 498A (cruelty) and 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Sandesh Patil quashed the FIR filed by Sawant against Durrani in 2023 after the couple got embroiled in matrimonial disputes.
However, the now estranged couple amicably settled the disputes, and thus Sawant gave her "no objection" to quash the FIR. Both Rakhi Sawant and her ex-husband were present in the court.
When asked by J Mohite-Dere, Sawant told the court, "I have no objection to quashing the FIR."
The bench has also quashed another FIR lodged against Sawant by her ex-husband, Aadil, for circulating his obscene photos on WhatsApp. Therefore, Aadil had lodged an FIR against her.
However, he has now filed an affidavit stating his "no objection" to the quashing of the said FIR lodged with the Amboli Police Station in Mumbai.
Court noted that the quashing was sought with the consent of the parties and there was an amicable settlement.
When questioned, Sawant reiterated that she has no objection to the said development.
