The Central Government on Thursday (May 1) notified the transfer of four judges of the Karnataka High Court to various other high courts. 

The Karnataka High Court judges whose transfer was notified today are:

1. Justice Heman Chandanagoudar from Karnataka HC to Madras HC

2. Justice Krishnan Natarajan from Karnataka HC to Kerala HC

3. Justice Neranahalli Srinivasan Sanjay Gowda from Karnataka HC to Gujarat HC

4. Justice Dixit Krishna Sripad from Karnataka HC to Orissa HC

Last month the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of seven High Court Judges - four of them from the Karnataka High Court- with a view to "infuse inclusivity and diversity" and "to strengthen the quality of administration of justice."

Following which, various lawyers and various Advocates Associations in Karnataka raised concerns about the recommendation to transfer of four Judges from the High Court to other courts in the country by the Supreme Court Collegium and had written to the Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to reconsider the same.

Further, Senior Advocates practising in Karnataka High Court had also written to the Chief Justice of India expressing deep sense of concern, anguish, disappointment and anxiety regarding the Collegium resolutions to transfer four Judges of the Karnataka High Court to other High Courts of the Country.

Advocates' Association Bengaluru (AAB) had also registered its protest against the recommendation to transfer of four Karnataka High Court judges and decided to abstain from work on April 23.
