The Kerala government has informed the High Court that the State Chief Secretary will convene a meeting on September 01, to finalise the guidelines for tackling snake bites and its treatment.

The submissions were made before the division bench of Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Shoba Annamma Eapen which was hearing a petition on the issue of basic health care in relation to snake bites, which arose after an incident involving snake bite to a student in 2019.

The Court has previously directed all the parties involved, including the counsel for the petitioners, amicus curiae and counsel for the respondents, to submit their written suggestions to Advocate General's Office, which would later be forwarded to the Chief Secretary for drafting the final guidelines.

The Chief Secretary will convene the meeting with the stakeholders  to finalise the guidelines.

The Court has directed to file in advance, the copy of the minutes of the meeting of the finalised guidelines.

The matter is posted on 11 September, 2025.
