Sitting judge of the Kerala High Court, Justice D.K. Singh, has stated that he will be initiating a criminal contempt of court case against former MLA R. Rajesh for making a 'stinking Facebook post' against the judge.

The judge stated his intention to take contempt of court action against the politician while hearing another writ petition. Later, while hearing the writ petition preferred by Kerala University Registrar challenging his suspension by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, the Court made clear its intention to frame contempt of court charges today itself.

The judge had orally observed that the former MLA was a member of the University Syndicate that reinstated Prof. Dr. K.S. Anil Kumar.

Thereafter, the judge stated his intention to frame charges against MLA R. Rajesh for making the Facebook post.

Stating that the MLA was a litigant before the Court and he was trying to put pressure on the judge after his case was reserved for judgment, Justice D.K. Singh orally observed, “Today, he will face the consequences. A person who is a litigant for me has written a Facebook post…

…His writ petition has been reserved for judgment. He has guts to write a Facebook post against me,” the court remarked.

The Court also orally stated that the politician was trying to besmirch the reputation of the judge and lower the prestige of the institution. It was further orally remarked:

He wants to put pressure on me, over my grave only he can put pressure on me. It is not a reputation which is built over a day…I am not deterred by anyone. I have not become a judge to be cowed down and to be pressurised.”

In his Facebook post, written in the context of the suspension of the Kerala University Registrar over the Bharatamba portrait row, he made allegations to the effect that the Court was inclined towards Sangh Parivar ideology.
