Film producer Sheela Kurian has moved the Kerala High Court seeking action against Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madhu Babu alleging improper behaviour by him when she visited his office in connection with a criminal complaint.
When the matter came up for consideration before Justice G. Girish on Thursday, the judge take time to the prosecutor to take instructions in the case and issued notice to Deputy SP Madhu Babu (Respondent No. 6).
According to the plea, a person named Noushad had borrowed an amount of Rs. 15 Lakhs from the petitioner in 2021 and in spite of several demands made by her, he did not return the same. It is also alleged that Noushad's wife verbally abused her over a phone call in February 2025. The very next day, the petitioner preferred complaint before the District Police Chief, Alappuzha (respondent 5), it is stated.
In the petition, she has also alleged that she was called into the office of the Deputy SP on 19.02.2025 and she went there at about 6 p.m. The 6th respondent Madhu was acting as the DySP and he verbally abused and behaved rudely to her, says the plea. After the incident, she filed a complaint before the 5th respondent but the same has not yet been acted upon and no FIR has been registered yet.
Though she preferred representations before the Secretary to the government, the State Police Chief, Additional Director General of Police, and the Inspector General of Police on 24.09.2025, no action was taken on these, it is stated. Aggrieved, she has come before the High Court seeking consideration of her representation.
As an interim prayer, she has sought a direction to the respondents to report about the action taken till date.
