MP High Court Expects Joint Meeting Between State Officials & Airlines In Bid To Increase Flights To Jabalpur
During the hearing of a PIL for increasing flights to Jabalpur, the State government informed the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday (July 1) that a proposed joint meeting which was to be conducted between state government officials with officers of various airlines could not take place.
Meanwhile the state government's counsel sought four weeks time to file current status and further developments in the matter. The court noted that the state government had to call a meeting and take a decision. The counsel submitted that the meeting could not take place and sought four weeks for the same.
After hearing the matter, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf in its order dictated:
"Learned counsel for state prays for some more time to comply with order dated May 14, 2025. At request re-notify on July 30. In the meantime we expect that a joint meeting of high officials of state government with high officers of respective airlines would be held".
During the hearing on May 14 State had submitted that the M.P. Civil Aviation Policy, 2025 has been notified providing certain incentives to the airlines. It was submitted that the policy has been notified to motivate airlines in increasing air-connectivity within the State and particularly larger cities including Jabalpur. It was also submitted that "efforts would be made to have a joint meeting of high officials of the State Government with higher officers in the respective airlines to convince them to increase air connectivity".
The court had in its May 14 order said, "We appreciate the efforts shown by the State Government and request both the State Government as well as the Airlines to cooperate and try to increase air-connectivity in the State".
The matter is next listed on July 30.
