Observing that "justice, even if delayed, must be seen to repair what was broken not only in legality, but in principle," the Punjab & Haryana High Court held that the right to regularisation of service, once accrued, does not extinguish upon an employee's death.
The Court observed that if an employee passes away after becoming eligible for regularisation, the benefit must be deemed to have vested and survives through their legal heirs.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has observed that a mere allegation of harassment against the accused is not sufficient to establish the offence of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
The Court acquitted the Mother-in-law of the deceased who was convicted for abetting her suicide. It was alleged that the mother-in-law and sister- in-law were harassing her for want of dowry and also on account of non- birth of child and the Trial Court had convicted her under Section 306 IPC.

In a strong observation against the exploitation of long-serving personnel, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the regularisation of a Home Guard who has been serving for nearly three decades.
Justice Jagmohan Bansal said, "A member who is working for part of the day or part of the month or part of the year and doing some other job for his livelihood may be called as volunteer, however, a man who is working entire day and without interruption for three decades cannot be called as volunteer."

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira seeking the quashing of an ongoing vigilance inquiry against him in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya found no merit in Khaira's plea, allowing the inquiry to proceed as per law.

In 2017, the High Court in order to curtail the environmental damage had directed that, "The Union Territory, Chandigarh, the States of Punjab and Haryana shall be entitled to issue temporary licences upto 20% of the total number of temporary licences issued in the previous year i.e. in 2016 and the grant of issuance of temporary licences shall be on the basis of draw of lots to be held by the concerned Deputy Commissioners themselves and their power shall not be delegated to anybody else under any circumstances."

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today sought a response from the Punjab Government on a suo motu action cognizance over the alleged non-payment of honorarium to nearly 50,000 Anganwadi workers for six months.
The Punjab Government submitted that there was an issue with respect to bank details; however, the honorarium has now been paid. Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry asked the State counsel to file the affidavit.

The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the exam pattern for the post of Assistant District Attorney (ADA) cannot be altered at this stage. Responding to a plea challenging the recent shift in the syllabus from law-based subjects to general knowledge, the Commission stated that such a change is not feasible.
