CJI BR Gavai On Three-Day Official Visit To Mauritius; Meets President, PM & Chief Justice

Chief Justice of India BR Gavai arrived in Mauritius on a three-day official visit at the invitation of the Chief Justice of Mauritius, Mrs. Rehana Bibi Mungly-Gulbul.

Upon arrival, Justice Gavai, accompanied by his family, took part in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute (MGI) in Mauritius and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. The MGI, a joint initiative between India and Mauritius, works to promote Indian culture and heritage.

During his visit, Justice Gavai called on President Dharambeer Gokhool and discussed the multifaceted India–Mauritius partnership, with emphasis on educational collaboration and judicial cooperation.

He also met Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam. Their discussions focused on the vibrant cultural connect and strong people-to-people ties that underpin the longstanding bilateral relationship. Prime Minister Ramgoolam fondly recalled his recent state visit to India.

Earlier, Justice Gavai met Deputy Prime Minister Paul Raymond Berenger, where the talks centred on the historical and cultural bonds that link India and Mauritius.

In the evening, the Chief Justice of Mauritius hosted an official dinner in honour of the visiting Chief Justice of India.
