The Supreme Court recently conferred senior designation on six former High Court Judges, who commenced practice after their retirement from judiciary.

They are :

1. Shri Ambadas Haribhau Joshi, Former Judge, High Court of Bombay

2. Shri Chander Shekhar, Former Judge, High Court of Delhi

3. Shri Cyril Thamarai Selvam, Former Judge, High Court of Madras

4. Shri Prithviraj Keshavrao Chavan, Former Judge, High Court of Bombay

5. Shri Rajbir Sehrawat, Former Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana

6. Shri Raj Mohan Singh, Former Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh.

The decision was taken at a full court meeting held on April 1.

Interestingly, Rajbir Sehrawat, while he was a Judge of the High Court, had created controversy last year after he passed remarks against a Supreme Court's order. The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance over the remarks and censured the Judge.
