SCL-India & NLU Delhi's CLUD Sign MoU For Collaboration In The Field Of Construction Law

The Centre for Law and Urban Development (CLUD), National Law University Delhi and the Society of Construction Law – India (SCL) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in the field of construction law, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and industry practice.
The Society of Construction Law – India, founded in 2016 and affiliated with SCL – UK, is a professional body that promotes research, education, and discourse in construction law and related fields.
The MoU establishes a framework for a long-term partnership focused on enhancing legal education, research, and professional training in construction law. Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on:
- Guest Lectures by eminent practitioners and industry experts in construction law.
- Certificate Courses (short-term and long-term), jointly designed and conducted, to build capacity among students and professionals.
- Events, Seminars, and Conferences to discuss emerging issues in construction law and urban development.
- Curriculum Development through co-designing modules and training methodologies.
- Resource and Knowledge Sharing, with CLUD providing academic expertise and SCL India bringing industry experience, case studies, and mentorship opportunities.
- Research Collaborations, including white papers, policy studies, and projects on legal and technical issues in the construction sector.
The partnership reflects the commitment of both institutions to strengthen legal education, promote industry-academia engagement, and provide students with practical exposure to the complexities of construction law and dispute resolution.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both institutions. From SCL-India, Mr. Ratan K. Singh, Senior Advocate and Founder & Chairman, SCL-India, and Mr. Akshay Gandotra, Joint Secretary, SCL-India, were present. From NLU Delhi, the attendees included Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul, Registrar, NLU Delhi, Dr. Prem Chand, Associate Professor of Law and Executive Director, CLUD, along with student coordinators Mr. Parth Gupta, Mr. Kartikeya Jaiswal, and Ms. Rishika Chaudhary.
Speaking on the occasion, the representatives expressed their shared vision of developing construction law as a specialized area of study and practice in India. This collaboration will serve as a step in equipping future lawyers with both theoretical knowledge and industry-relevant skills.
Mr. Ratan K. Singh also delivered a lecture to the students on the principles and key aspects of construction law, following the signing ceremony.
