Delhi High Court Full Bench Closes Plea As Elections To DHCBA, All Bar Associations Conclude Successfully

As elections to the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) and all bar associations in the national capital have been successfully concluded, the Delhi High Court has closed a petition on the issue.

A full bench comprising Justice Prathiba M Singh, Justice Navin Chawla and Justice C Hari Shankar disposed of a plea plea in which directions were issued from time to time regarding conduct of elections to the Delhi High Court Bar Association as also the various Bar Associations in the District Courts.

Elections to all the Bar Associations were concluded on March 21, including DHCBA, except in respect of the Saket and Shahdara Bar Associations which were called off due to various reasons. Saket Bar Association elections were conducted on May 24.

The Full Court expressed its appreciation for the smooth and successful conduct of the elections to the Election Committee and the Bar as well as to the Delhi Police for providing adequate security and the Delhi University for making available the EVMs for conducting the polls in a short period of time.

“The Court also records its gratitude for Justice RK Gauba (Retd.) as also Justice Talwant Singh (Retd.), the Chairpersons of the Saket Bar Association Election Committee and the Shahdara Bar Association Election Committees , respectively, who have enabled the elections to the respective Bar Associations to be conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner – that too on a pro bono basis,” the Court said while closing the matter.

“No further orders are called for in this writ petition,” the Court said.
