Retired judicial officer Vimal Kumar Yadav on Tuesday (August 12) was sworn in as a judge of the Delhi High Court. Retired judicial officer Vimal Kumar Yadav on Tuesday (August 12) was sworn in as a judge of the Delhi High Court.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya at 10 AM.
The judge's appointment was notified by the Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in a post made on X (formerly Twitter).
With the fresh appointment, the strength of judges at the Delhi High Court will rise to 44. The sanctioned strengthen of judges is 60.
Yadav joined the Delhi Judicial Service in 1992. He became a member of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service in 2003. The judge demitted office as a principal district and sessions judge of Patiala House courts in January this year, after attaining the age of 60.
The age of retirement of a High Court judge is 62 years. Justice Yadav will be serving as a Delhi High Court judge for 18 months.
Yadav has also served as additional registrar in the Supreme Court of India for two years from 2008 to 2010. He had served as a CBI Judge at the Rouse Avenue courts. On July 24, three judicial officers had sworn in as Delhi High Court judges. The names are- Vinod Kumar, Shail Jain and Madhu Jain.
Previously, on July 21, six new judges were sworn in as the Delhi High Court judges. The names are- Justice V Kameswar Rao, Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre, Justice Vivek Chaudhary, Justice Anil Kshertarpal, Justice Arun Monga and Justice Om Prakash Shukla.
Before their transfer, Justice Sambre was in the Bombay High Court whereas Justice Chaudhary and Justice Shukla were in the Allahabad High Court. Justice Kshetarpal was in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Justice Monga was in the Rajasthan High Court. Justice Rao has been repatriated to the Delhi High Court from the Karnataka High Court.
