The Delhi High Court has recently issued notice on a petition seeking the creation of a separate website for Rouse Avenue Court.
Justice Sachin Datta sought response of District Judge (Headquarters) of Tis Hazari Courts, Ministry of Law and Justice and National Informatics Centre.
“Let reply be filed by the respondent/s within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of notice,” the Court said while listing the matter for hearing on April 14.
The plea, moved by lawyer Abhinav Garg, contends that the Rouse Avenue Court does not have an independent online presence, despite its distinct operational status within the Central District.
It adds that while all other districts courts have their own dedicated websites, the absence of a separate website for Rouse Avenue Court creates several operational challenges, particularly for the legal community and litigants who rely on the digital platform for accessing court-related information.
“Presently, the Central District's website fails to mention or provide any direct reference to Rouse Avenue Court. This lack of acknowledgment causes confusion among advocates and litigants when seeking relevant details or accessing court services,” the plea states.
It adds: “The absence of specific information on the Central District website, coupled with the lack of a unique website for Rouse Avenue Court, hinders effective communication and access to vital resources, such as case statuses, notifications, circulars, and e-filing information.”
Garg has contended that unified website, intended for all courts within the district, creates confusion, making it hard for users to locate Rouse Avenue Court-specific notifications or circulars, which can delay important proceedings.
He thus seeks creation of a separate website for Rouse Avenue Court as the same would be essential for streamlining operations, improving accessibility, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the judicial process.
