Delhi High Court Directs Indian Nursing Council To Decide Plea For Proper Functioning Of Nurses Registration And Tracking System

The Delhi High Court has directed the Indian Nursing Council to decide a representation seeking proper functioning of the Nurses Registration and Tracking System (NRTS).

A division bench comprising Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela disposed of a PIL filed by Indian Professional Nurses Association on the issue.

The plea sought a prayer than an appropriate direction be issued to the Indian Nursing Council for ensuring proper functioning of the NRTS so that it is streamlined and made effective.

A further prayer was made to keep the said system upgraded in terms of a circular issued on May 09, 2019.

The Court disposed of the PIL with a direction to the Indian Nursing Council to consider and decide the representation made by the petitioner association on March 28.

It said that the decision on the said representation by the competent authority of the Indian Nursing Council shall be taken by passing a reasoned and speaking order in accordance with law and rules.

“A decision under this Order shall be taken within a period of six weeks from the date a certified copy of this order is produced before the Indian Nursing Council,” the Court said.

It added that the decision so taken shall be communicated to the petitioner association.

“The writ petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid terms,” the Court said.
