Justice Ashutosh Kumar Takes Oath As Chief Justice Of Gauhati High Court

Justice Ashutosh Kumar on Monday was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. The oath was administered to Justice Kumar by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

Justice Ashutosh Kumar was born on 1st October 1966. He completed his schooling at St. Michael's High School, Patna, and went on to graduate from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University. He obtained his LL.B. from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University.

He was enrolled as an advocate on 9th July 1991 at the Patna High Court. During his practice, Justice Kumar appeared in several significant criminal matters, including cases involving convicts on death row. He also briefly served as a Government Pleader for the State of Bihar.

Justice Kumar was elevated as a Judge of the Patna High Court on 15th May 2014. He was subsequently transferred to the Delhi High Court on 7th January 2015, and later repatriated to the Patna High Court on 24th November 2017.
