In a response to the heinous terrorist attack that rocked the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam in Anantnag district on April 22, 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Srinagar, has issued a powerful condemnation, describing the incident as a "cowardly and barbaric assault" on innocent civilians and tourists.

The attack, which has claimed several lives and left many injured, has shaken the conscience of the region. In a solemn gesture of protest and respect for the victims, JKHCBA Srinagar has called for a complete suspension of court work in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at Srinagar, as well as all subordinate courts and tribunals on April 23, 2025.

JKHCBA President Advocate Waseem Gul expressed deep sorrow and anguish on behalf of the legal fraternity stating,

“The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, strongly condemns the cowardly terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, Anantnag district, on April 22, 2025. This brutal assault on innocent tourists and civilians, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries, is a deplorable act of violence with no place in a civilized society. We stand united in denouncing this barbaric act that seeks to disrupt the peace and harmony of Jammu and Kashmir”

Meanwhile, in Jammu, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, has also announced a complete shutdown of court proceedings on April 23 in solidarity with the victims. In a rare show of unanimity, all major political parties, social organizations, and civil society groups have joined hands to call for a Jammu Bandh.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are also with those who have been injured, and we sincerely wish them a swift and full recovery", reads a statement issued by President Mr K. Nirmal Kotwal.
