The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued a circular directing all its employees, both Gazetted and Non-Gazetted, to strictly adhere to the prescribed uniform while attending office and performing official duties.
The Registrar General (Officiating), M.K. Sharma, observed that several officers and staff members were attending office in casual dress, which was causing “great indiscipline” and affecting the smooth functioning of the Court.
The circular makes it clear that the direction applies to all categories of staff, including personal staff attached to officers of the Registry, eCourts and IT Section employees, orderlies, ushers, and drivers.
It warns that non-compliance will be viewed seriously and may invite disciplinary action, while also directing all controlling officers to ensure strict adherence by staff under their supervision.
The order has come into force with immediate effect.
