The Karnataka High Court in an interim order on Monday (January 27) stayed the summons issued by Enforcement Directorate to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathy, for her alleged involvement in the MUDA case.
Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the interim order while hearing the petition filed by her and minister B S Suresha seeking to quash the complaint registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and summons issued under Section 50 of the Act.
Additional Solicitor General Arvind Kamath argued that the ED has power to issue the summons to collect details of the predicate offences.
The petitioners counsel argued that summons have been issued pending the hearing of the petition filed before this court. It was informed that summons issued to another person was quashed by a coordinate bench of the court.
Following which the court said “Summons issued are to be stayed as it will frustrate the proceedings pending before this court. Relist the matter for further hearing on February 10. Till then there shall be an interim order of stay".
The matter is now listed on February 10.
