The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (29 October) directed the Administrative Committee of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple to submit a comprehensive report on the repairr works being carried out in the temple.

The division bench comprising Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice M B Snehalatha were considering a petition which alleged defects in Moolavigraha (principal idol) of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.

When the matter was considered earlier, the Chief Thanthri (Chief Priest) had submitted a note stating that there were no defects in the moolavigraha, but emphasised urgency in reconstructing the Sreekovil (Sanctum sanctorum) roof and the idol of Vishwaksenan. Following this, the Court had called for a status report on the reconstruction works carried out in the Temple.

Today, the Counsel for the Administrative Committee submitted that the concerned authorities had a detailed deliberation with Chief Thanthri regarding the repair works and the schedule for conducting such works. It was further submitted that the Chief Thanthri have recommended a list of "Shilpis"(Sculptors) who will be entrusted the work.

The Senior counsel appearing for Chief Thanthri, affirmed the submissions of the committee and added that further instruction regarding the repair works will be given to the committee during the deliberation in the next few days.

The Court thus directed the Administrative Committee to file a comprehensive report, including the schedule, nature of work and the manner of work within two weeks.

The matter is posted on November 13, for further consideration.
