The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association passed a resolution today to abstain from court proceedings tomorrow – 09.04.2025 to protest the hike in court fee brought into effect by the Kerala Finance Act 2025.
The Association said they are participating in the 'pen down protest day' as the increase in court fee is a grave danger to democracy and judicial system.
The Association have filed a PIL before the High Court protesting the hike saying that the court fees has been increased by 400% - 9900%.
Through the resolution, the Association has stated that it hopes that no adverse orders are passed for non-appearance tomorrow as the protest is only aimed at raising awareness among the people about the grave injustice that is caused to them by these changes.
