Kerala High Court Directs Centre To Submit List Of Persons Named In Order Of Interim Settlement Board In CMRL Case

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (16th April) directed the Additional Solicitor General Adv. AR. L. Sundaresan to submit the list of persons involved in the order made by the Interim Board for Settlement for Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).

The Interim Board for Settlement-II, New Delhi in its order on a settlement application filed by CMRL has mentioned that the assessee has claimed that certain payments were made to public servants for the smooth running of the business with the uninterrupted flow of raw materials and services. Currently, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has filed its complaint alleging that the CMRL made fraudulent payments to Veena Thaikandiyil, daughter of Chief Minister, her company and others.
The instant petition was filed by senior journalist M. R. Ajayan seeking CBI investigation into the affairs between CMRL and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He has also sought a direction to call for the records leading to the settlement application filed by CMRL.
The case will be next heard on 27th May.
