The State of Kerala has sought 2 weeks' time from the Kerala High Court to file a detailed statement in the case of bribery against the Assistant Director of Ernakulam Enforcement Directorate Office.
Shekhar Kumar, the ED official who has been arraigned as the 1st accused in the bribery case registered by the Vigilance, had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. As per the allegation, the official has asked the complainant Rs. 2 Crore bribe through a third-party to get him out of his case. Shekhar Kumar has mentioned in the bail application that the complainant made false allegations against him to wiggle out of the case.
During today's hearing, the State stated their intention to file a detailed statement opposing the bail. The Director General of Prosecution who appeared for the State informed the Court that they need to scientifically analyse the data which was recovered from the phone of other 3 accused before filing the statement.
Justice A. Badharudeen ordered that the interim order not to arrest the official will continue till the next date of hearing. The officer is directed to co-operate with the investigation.
The case is posted to 3rd July.
Aneesh Babu, who had filed the complaint against the ED official, has since received a notice from the ED official to appear before it with all the documents relating to the vigilance case. Today, during the hearing of the bail petition filed by Aneesh Babu, the ED informed the Court that it was not intending to arrest him.
