    The Kerala High Court has directed the Police officer investigating the Karuvannur bank scam to conduct the probe without coming under any sort of pressure from political or bureaucratical quarters. The Court ordered that if the investigating officer fails to perform his duty, he will bear the brunt.

    The investigating officer is warned against coming under pressure from any political or bureaucratic quarters. He is expected to carry out investigation in a fair manner without being influence or coming under any pressure from anywhere. If this court finds that the investigation has not been carried out properly and the roles of the political activists have not been investigated fairly, the investigating officer will bear the brunt for his dereliction of duty.”

    Justice D. K. Singh ordered thus in a petition filed by a former employee of the bank seeking CBI investigation into the 100- crore bank fraud uncovered in Thrissur's Karuvannur Co-operative Bank.

    The petitioner sought CBI investigation as many people involved in the alleged fraud belonged to CPI(M) party, a faction of the ruling front LDF. The scam is being currently investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as well.

    The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thrissur Crime Branch appeared before the Court and submitted that the final report has been filed in one of the twenty cases. He undertook to submit the final report in all other cases within 3 months.

    The Court directed the DySP to collect the copy of ECIR filed by the ED and investigate the involvement of every accused named in it.

    The case is next posted to 2nd July.
