Kerala High Court Grants Interim Protection From Arrest To Actor Lakshmi Menon Booked For Abduction, Assault Of IT Professional

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted interim protection from arrest to actor Lakshmi R Menon who is accused of assaulting and abducting an IT professional.
Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, granted the protection while considering the anticipatory bail application filed by the actor.
On Monday (25, August), an FIR was registered against the petitioner in Ernakulam Town North Police Station, under Section 140(2)[Kidnapping or Abducting in order to murder], 126 [Wrongful Restraint], 296[Obscene Acts and Songs], 127(2)[Wrongful Confinement], 115(2)[ Voluntarily Causing Hurt] and 351[Criminal Intimidation] of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The complainant alleged that a dispute broke at 'Velocity' Pub, Kochi in the presence of the actor along with other other accused. Following which, the accused followed the complainant and his friend in their car and forced the complainant to enter the car of the accused after verbally abusing the complainant. It was further alleged that he was assaulted in the car of the accused and was given death threats.
A video of the alleged incident has surfaced in social media platforms following the incident.
The case is posted for further consideration on September 17.
