After Kerala High Court Nudge, State Establishes Online Portal For Redressal Of Grievances From Public Hospitals

The submission was made before the division bench comprising Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji, which is dealing with a writ petition seeking safety standards at public medical facilities, following the collapse of Kottayam Medical College building.

The bench has earlier expressed its dissatisfaction over lack of Grievance Redressal Committee for almost one and half year, following which the Grievance Redressal Committee was constituted.

The Court has previously directed the Kerala Legal Service Authority to conduct inspection in Government Hospitals across the State to ensure medical standards at public hospitals.

The counsel for KeLSA submitted that inspections have been completed and the reports have been filed by the 13 District Legal Service Authority.

State attorney also submitted that an additional affidavit by Secretary, Kerala State Council for Medical establishments has been submitted, where the steps taken by the Council pursuant to earlier directions of the Court were enumerated.

The Court took note of the submission and posted the matter to October, 21 for further consideration.
