The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday (July 21) addressed growing concerns among members of the Bar regarding delay in listing of bail matters.
"It's not that we are not conscious, we are also concerned about bail matters, we are conscious. We have increased the number of bench from one to two. We are also looking at increasing the benches. Please be patient," Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said today.
The remarks were made when a bunch of lawyers gathered to raise the issue before the bench also comprised of Justice Vinay Saraf.
The lawyers expressed concern over delay in listing of bail applications, many of which, they said, had remained unlisted since April. Advocate Paritosh Trivedi submitted that the delay had worsened following the court's summer vacation.
The bench however assured the lawyers that it was fully conscious of the situation and was actively working towards resolving the issue. It orally remarked, "I have informed you this will take time. We are understanding, we are conscious of the system. We have to wait for some time. There is a judge joining on Thursday".
The CJ added that the High Court is planning systemic improvements in the filing and scrutiny system. "Wait for this week," he said.
