Centre Notifies Transfer Of Orissa HC Judge Justice Arindam Sinha To Allahabad HC

The Union Government on Friday notified the transfer of Justice Arindam Sinha, senior-most puisne Judge of Orissa High Court as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. Last week, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his transfer.
Justice Sinha originally belongs to the Calcutta High Court, where he was appointed as an Additional Judge on October 30, 2013 and as a permanent Judge on March 14, 2016. He was later on transferred to Orissa High Court and took oath on October 08, 2021.
Upon retirement of the 34th Chief Justice Chakradhari Singh, he officiated as the Acting Chief Justice from January 19 to March 25, 2025. On March 26, 2025 the current Chief Justice Harish Tandon assumed office.
With the transfer of Justice Sinha, the working strength of the Orissa High Court has gone down to 18 against a sanctioned strength of 33 Judges.
