    In a PIL regarding deficiencies in 11 school of Dhariyabad with respect to infrastructure and teaching staff, Rajasthan High Court directed the District Collector as well as the Principle Secretary to file an affidavit detailing the steps taken towards improving the situation of vacancies in these school as well as lack of infrastructure, particularly toilets.

    The division bench of Justice Munnuri Laxman as well as Justice Ravi Chirania further directed the Finance Department to consider the request of the District Collector to release the funds for making further progress in the work.

    The Court highlighted that as per the records available, the schools were being run with less than 50% of the sanctioned strength of teachers, and opined that immediate steps were required to rectify the deficiencies.

    The Court was hearing the PIL that sought direction regarding the deficiencies at the 11 schools regarding infrastructure, especially toilets as well as the teaching staff.

    Based on the perusal of records, the Court held that,

    “Insofar as the deficiencies with regard to the infrastructure, more particularly about toilets, they shall also file digital photographs of the work undertaken in these two years, apart from the affidavit. The Principal Secretary shall also explain what steps have been taken to fill the vacancies which have remained vacant for long time. Such affidavit and photographs shall be filed within a period of two weeks.”

    Based on the statement by the District Collector that no action was taken towards her requests for granting funds from the Finance Department, the latter was also directed to consider the request and release the required funds.

    Accordingly, the matter is listed on August 12, 2025.
