Essential Qualification and Experience
• An accomplished professional with at least 5 years in advocacy / public policy and working with Government and a total of 7+ years of experience with a proven track record.
• High integrity and sense of purpose
• Inter-personal skills and ability to engage effectively in a matrix environment.
• Work with senior leadership.
• A background in business administration, public policy, political science, public relations along with MBA or law degree preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
• The Government Affairs team serves as an advisor to Wipro business leaders, influencing decision -making processes related to government and regulators:
• Strategic Approach to Government Affairs: Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs and outreach plan that align with Wipro's business goals and objectives. Create white papers in select priority areas and evangelize the Wipro story across stakeholders and build the brand with government stakeholders.
• Policy Advocacy: Collaborate across multi-functional teams to develop and advocate for Wipro's positions on legislative and regulatory issues, including drafting policy proposals, position papers, and testimony for hearings. Should be able to write on Technology policy topics such as Digital transformation, Data, Privacy, Sustainability, Cybersecurity, Emerging technologies, AI, etc for regions including Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East region.
• Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal government officials, industry associations and other relevant stakeholders, in India and select priority countries.
• Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and analyse legislation and regulations that impact Wipro, ensuring compliance and advising on necessary adjustments to business practice.
• Issue Management: Identify and manage potential political and regulatory risks and crisis management, developing proactive strategies to address and mitigate these risks.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment on public policy issues. Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, events, and forums, including hosting delegations and visits of Government dignitaries.
• Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders and serve as a spokesperson for Wipro on governmental and regulatory matters on Industry platforms, Government interactions etc.
• Coalition Building: Work with industry peers and coalitions to advance common public policy goals and objectives. Represent or support Wipro's representation in key industry associations in India and globally.
