    Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, invites submissions of original chapters for the edited volume “AI and the Law: Ethics, Regulation and Governance” . Scholars, practitioners, and researchers are encouraged to contribute work exploring legal, ethical, regulatory, and governance dimensions of artificial intelligence.

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) transforms legal systems, regulatory structures, and ethical standards globally. With AI's rapid integration into law enforcement, judicial decision-making, contract management, and governance, questions arise about accountability, human rights, privacy, and the future of justice. This edited book Artificial Intelligence and the Law: Ethics, Regulation, and Governance seek to explore these intersections. It will gather research from academics, legal practitioners, technologists, policymakers, and students to produce reference work for scholars, practitioners, and regulators.

    A. AI and Legal Frameworks

    • Role of AI in judicial decision-making and legal reasoning.
    • Liability, accountability, and transparency in AI systems.
    • AI, data protection, and privacy laws.
    • Cross-border data flow and jurisdictional issues in AI regulation.

    B. Ethics and Human Rights

    • Ethical use of AI in policing and surveillance.
    • Bias and discrimination in algorithmic decision-making.
    • AI and access to justice opportunities and challenges.
    • Protecting human dignity and autonomy in AI-driven legal systems.

    C. Regulation and Governance

    • National vs. international approaches to AI regulation.
    • Models of AI governance in democratic societies.
    • Standards, certifications, and compliance mechanisms for AI systems.
    • Role of institutions and agencies in AI oversight.

    D. Sectoral Applications

    • AI in contract analysis, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
    • AI in intellectual property law and patent examination.
    • Predictive policing and criminal justice reform.
    • AI impact on corporate law, tax law, and financial regulations.

    E. Emerging Areas

    • Generative AI and legal liabilities.
    • AI and Cyber security law
    • Ethical implications of autonomous decision-making systems.
    • Interdisciplinary perspectives: technology, sociology, philosophy of law

    Submission Guidelines

    • Word Limit: 5,000 words (abstract, keywords, including references, tables, and notes).
    • Abstract: 250 words with 5 keywords.
    • Introduction: Clearly situate the chapter within the AI and The Law framework.
    • Main Body: Critical analysis with evidence from policy, practice, and people's perspectives.
    • Conclusion: Highlight key insights, gaps, and recommendations.
    • References: APA 7th edition.
    • Font: Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing.
    • Referencing: In-text citations and reference list in APA 7th edition.
    • Tables/Figures: Clearly labeled and cited.
    • Contributions must be original and unpublished.
    • The tone should be critical-academic (not purely descriptive).
    • Authors should avoid jargon and ensure readability for both scholars and policymakers.
    • Comparative, interdisciplinary, and case-study-based approaches are welcome.
    • All submissions will undergo editorial review and, if needed, peer review.
    • Authors may be asked to revise chapters based on feedback.
    • The similarity index of submitted manuscripts must remain below 10% for plagiarism and below 20% for AI-generated content.
    • The due date of submission of chapter is 20th October 2025.

    A complimentary hardcopy of the book will be provided to all authors.
