The Department of Sociology under the School of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (SSSIS), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, is set to host NatCon'25 on 20th and 21st September 2025, following the tremendous success of NatCon'24. Organised in collaboration with the Indian Sociological Society's RC 25 on the Sociology of Sports, Paavan Chhaaya Public Charitable Trust, and Law Teachers India, this year's national conference revolves around the thought-provoking theme: “Seasons of Life: Reconstructing Ageism and Youthism for a More Inclusive Society.”

Ageism and youthism, though often operating in opposite directions, both result in discrimination, exclusion, and loss of dignity. This conference seeks to critically explore the structures and ideologies that sustain these biases across age groups. The aim is not only to identify and dissect these phenomena, but to actively propose pathways to reconstruct a society where all generations are valued equally, and where inclusion, respect, and intergenerational solidarity are the norm.

NatCon'25 will delve into a broad spectrum of sub-themes, ranging from elder care, mental health, loneliness, economic marginalisation, informal caregiving, elder abuse, and gendered ageing, to youth unemployment, intergenerational justice, political participation, digital exclusion, and media representation. Specific focus will also be placed on the lived experiences of transgender elderly individuals, the impact of urban migration on the aged, and the erasure of youth voices in governance.

The conference invites submissions of original research papers, case studies, and conceptual articles.

The last date for abstract submission is 15th July 2025, and for full paper submission, 30th July 2025. Offline participants will have the opportunity to compete in the Best Paper Presentation contest.

NatCon'25 promises to be a landmark academic gathering aimed at challenging social stereotypes and fostering inclusive policy and academic thought.
