Call For Papers: NLIU Bhopal International Essay Writing Competition On U.S. Tariff Policy And Global Trade Dynamics

The Centre for Law and Economics at National Law Institute University, Bhopal (M.P.), India, in collaboration with Erudite Legal, announces the International Essay Writing Competition on "Analyzing the International Trade Dynamics under the New Tariff Policy of the USA." The competition aims to encourage scholarly analysis on the landscape of International Trade, due to recent shifts in U.S. tariff policies and their global implications.
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, Act No. 41 of 1997, and substituted by Act No. 6 of 2018, enacted by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. NLIU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India. The main objective of NLIU is to impart and disseminate legal education in order to achieve excellence by way of organizing study programs and promoting research with a focus on improving the ability of students and research scholars to analyze contemporary issues of public concerns and their legal implications so that law learners acquire skills to advance legal education in a professional and a responsible manner.
The Centre for Law and Economics
Established in 2024 under the aegis of NLIU, the Centre for Law and Economics (CLE) is dedicated to fostering an environment conducive to interdisciplinary research, aimed at enhancing student learning and academic development. The Centre is committed to advancing research and publishing scholarly work in the domain of Law and Economics, encouraging active student participation at all levels. The CLE aims to explore and solutions to various socio-economic and legal challenges, contributing to the betterment of society and the economy. It strives to assist policymakers by critically appraising existing policies, legislations, and regulations, offering recommendations. To further its mission, the Centre seeks to collaborate with governmental bodies, regulators, research institutes, and national and international academic institutions through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs). These partnerships are designed to strengthen the legal-economic system in India and globally, promoting exchange of ideas and research.

Concept Note
The online essay competition on 'Analyzing the International Trade Dynamics under New Tariff Policy of United States of America (USA)' invites participants to engage in an economic analysis of the New Tariff Policy introduced by President Donald Trump. The New Tariff Policy of the USA has triggered a significant discussion about global supply chains, domestic industries, international trade, and the overall economic impact. The competition's goal is to get participants to think about the policy's implications and investigate how it affects the global market as well as the USA economy. In addition to encouraging participants to assess economic theories, data, and policy outcomes, this competition attempts to investigate the various economic effects of protectionist policies and the ensuing trade wars.
Eligibility
- Open to all students, academicians, advocates, professionals, and individuals interested in economics, international trade, public policy, and related fields.
- Participants must register individually (Co-Authorship is allowed only for two persons).
Submission Guidelines
- FORMAT: Submissions must be in PDF format.
- ABSTRACT: 150-200 Words with 5-6 Keywords
- MANUSCRIPT: Maximum word limit: 3000-4000 words (excluding references, footnotes, and appendices).
- FONT: Times New Roman- size 12, 1.5 line spacing.
- REFERENCES AND FOOTNOTES: Participants must use the 20 Harvard Bluebook Referencing Style for citations. Footnotes-size 10, 1.0 line spacing.
- PLAGIARISM: All submissions must be original. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- LANGUAGE: English only.
