    The Department of Law, Vivekananda Global University focuses to develop and advance interdisciplinary legal education and scholarship. The University believes in establishing and implementing new approaches towards teaching and learning which lead it to a NAAC A+ accreditation in a short span of a decade since its inception.

    As a research-oriented institute, it encourages academic imagination in the belief that thinking outside the box leads to original, relevant research. Thus, it incubates research on a range of ideas, including but not limited to, intellectual property, constitutional law, and criminal law.

    Since its inception in 2013, the university has become one of India's law universities. The students have gone on to excel in diverse fields, such as academia, legal practice, administrative services and entrepreneurship. It values and embraces diversity of thoughts, opinions, values and expressions. It believes that educational institutions should be fair and inclusive spaces that help everyone in achieving their true potential.

    Shri R.K. Rastogi was born in 1909. He had served as the first Member of Legislative Assembly from Jaipur. He was appointed as Advocate General by the erstwhile Rajpramukh of Rajasthan. He was also the founding member of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, an elected member of the Bar Council of Rajasthan, and was also a member of the Bar Council of India. Shri Rastogi had also served as the Judge of the then Election Tribunal. He was later reappointed as Advocate General in 1978.

    He was widely quoted as 'master of facts'. Justice V.S. Dave, in his biography, dedicated a few pages for Shri Rastogi. He was very supportive of his juniors. His junior, Justice D.P. Gupta went on to become the Chief Justice of the High Court of Rajasthan. The Bar Council of Rajasthan regularly conducts R.K. Rastogi Memorial Law Lecture in his honour.

    About the Event

    The competition is organised in the memory of Late Shri R.K. Rastogi. It aims at providing an opportunity to law students of top universities across the country to practice and improve their negotiation skills. It provides a platform for students to compete in a truly diverse and learning environment. The competition is carefully structured to simulate legal negotiations, making it particularly useful for those students who aspire to be alternative dispute resolution lawyers.

    Eligibility

    All students who are enrolled in a full-time law degree (undergraduate or post-graduate) as on 1st October 2024 will be eligible to participate.

    Team Composition

    Each team will consist of two members. One member shall be designated as the 'client' and the other member shall be designated as the 'counsel'. Participants will have to mandatorily reverse roles in both preliminary rounds.

    Location

    The Competition will be held in offline mode at Vivekananda Global University Campus, Jaipur (Rajasthan).

    Important Dates

    • 03rd October 2025 – Deadline for seeking clarifications
    • 10th October 2025 – Registration, Draw of Lots, and Participants Briefing
    • 11th October 2025 – Inaugural Ceremony and Preliminary Rounds
    • 12th October 2025 – Semi Finals, Final, and Valedictory Ceremony

    The participants will be informed sufficiently in advance if there is any change in the schedule.

    Registration Fee

    A registration fee of INR 6,000 per team with accommodation or a registration fee of INR 4,000 per team without accommodation will be charged in advance at the time of registration itself and has to be deposited online.

    Prizes (Worth INR 70,000)

    The winners will receive a trophy to be held in their university and a cash prize. The runners-up will also receive a trophy and cash prize. There will be an award and cash prize for the best negotiator. A spirit of the competition award and a cash prize will also be given to the team that best displays the qualities of good negotiation. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
