The 1st Arun Jaitley National Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Competition, 2025 is a national mediation event launching the Arun Jaitley ADR Competition Series. Organized by the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) at the 5-Year Integrated Law Course (ILC), Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in collaboration with the Shri Arun Jaitley Foundation, this competition aims to enhance skills in mediation, negotiation, and dispute resolution among law students throughout India. The inaugural edition centers on mediation, with subsequent competitions expected to cover other aspects of ADR.
Format & Schedule: Features a hybrid format, beginning with online preliminary rounds (26–27 Sept 2025), followed by on-campus quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finale (4–5 Oct 2025).
Eligibility: Open to BCI-recognized law colleges; each team (max two per college) consists of three members—one mediator and a client–counsel pair, all from the same institution.
Competition Structure: Rounds vary in duration and complexity, with knockout advancements in later stages. Strict confidentiality, fair play, and professional conduct are emphasized.
Awards: Cash prizes and certificates are awarded to winners, runners-up, and outstanding mediators; all participants receive certificates.
Faculty of Law, University of Delhi—established in 1924—is a center for legal education, known for producing judges, advocates, policy-makers, and leaders. The centenary celebration marked the launch of the 5-Year Integrated Law Course (ILC), offering B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A. LL.B. Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) is an initiative by students and faculty to bridge gaps in traditional adjudication. CADR promotes ADR through workshops, competitions, and training, equipping students with practical legal expertise and life skills such as empathy, rational thinking, and decision-making. It seeks to create professionals who are legally sound, emotionally intelligent, and socially conscious, furthering the acceptance and practice of alternative justice in India.
