IGNITAC'25, 2nd Ignatius Trial & Advocacy Competition By St. Xavier's University, Kolkata

The Xavier Society of Law and Justice (XSLAJ), a student-run society of Xavier Law School, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, announces IGNITAC'25- 2nd Ignatius Trial & Advocacy Competition. This competition, held in association with MCO Legals and Coal India Limited as title partners, provides an opportunity for legal professionals-in-training from law institutions across India to experience the legal advocacy. IGNITAC'25 is organized to underscore the importance of practical learning and the development of professional skill sets, with a central focus on courtroom practice. The competition aims to acquaint law students with the rules of a trial and help them master the skills of pursuance, preparedness, and prudence.

Event Details

IGNITAC'25 will take place in an offline mode at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, from October 9th to 11th, 2025. The deadline to register is October 3rd, 2025.

Eligibility and Team Composition

This competition is open to students from any Law School, College, University, or Institution within India, as long as they are pursuing a three-year or five-year integrated LL.B. degree recognized by the Bar Council of India. Students pursuing an LL.M. or from any year or semester are also eligible.

Each team must consist of three mandatory members:

• Two speakers
• One researcher

The roles cannot be changed after the team's registration is confirmed.

The registration fee is INR 4,500 per team.

Prizes and Opportunities

Participants will compete for the IGNITAC CUP and a share of the Rs. 2.4 lakh cash pool.

• Best Team: IGNITAC CUP, Gold Medallion, and Rs. 1,00,000 cash prize.
• Runner-up Team: Trophy, Silver Medallion, and Rs. 50,000 cash prize.
• Best Speaker: Trophy, Gold Medallion, and Rs. 30,000 cash prize.
• Best Memorial: Trophy and Rs. 30,000 cash prize.
• Best Researcher: Trophy, Gold Medallion, and Rs. 15,000 cash prize.
• Best Witness: Trophy, Gold Medallion, and Rs. 15,000 cash prize.

In addition to cash prizes, winners will also receive internship opportunities. Other perks include:
