In a step towards international academic collaboration, the students of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj (RPNLUP), are set to participate in a 3–4-week academic exchange and immersion programme at the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, South Africa. This initiative marks a milestone in actualizing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions earlier this year.
Under this exchange programme, RPNLUP students will engage in an experience at one of South Africa's leading legal education institutions. The exchange is currently being coordinated with Professor N Dyani-Mhango, Head of the Department of Public Law and Chair of Internationalisation, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria. Discussions are underway to finalise suitable dates and a comprehensive schedule of academic and co-curricular engagements for the visiting students.
“We are in active dialogue with Professor Dyani-Mhango to finalise the dates and detailed programme for our students. This exchange is an important step in globalising legal education at RPNLUP and providing our students with an international platform for academic growth and cultural exchange,” said Senior Professor Usha Tandon, the Vice-Chancellor of RPNLU, Prayagraj.
The academic immersion will include participation in seminars, workshops, legal aid and community outreach programmes, and exposure to human rights law clinics. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in moot court and mock trial workshops designed to enhance their practical legal skills and understanding of comparative legal systems.
“The goal is to immerse our students in a rich blend of academic instruction, practical learning, and intercultural interaction. By engaging with global legal perspectives and participating in community legal initiatives, students will gain valuable insights that transcend the traditional classroom setting,” added Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tandon.
This exchange programme reflects RPNLU's continued commitment to nurturing competent legal professionals. By fostering collaborations with international institutions, the University aims to provide its students with exposure to diverse legal systems, global challenges, and innovative legal practices.
The partnership with the University of Pretoria also underscores the shared commitment of both institutions towards legal education, research, and community service. It opens new avenues for faculty collaboration, joint research initiatives, and long-term academic partnerships.
This international exchange marks a new chapter in RPNLU, Prayagraj's journey towards becoming a centre of excellence in legal education, research, and international cooperation. The University looks forward to deepening its engagement with the University of Pretoria and building a lasting academic bridge between India and South Africa.
