The Legal Aid Clinic of Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, organized a legal awareness programme on the issue of cyberbullying among school children at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Public School, Ghanahatti.
The initiative aimed to educate young students about the growing menace of cyberbullying and its impact on mental health and overall well-being. The event commenced with an introductory session on cyberbullying, covering its definitions, various forms, and the psychological and social consequences of such acts. The Legal Aid Clinic team provided insightful explanations using real-life anecdotes, examples, and dialogue to ensure student engagement.
A short skit was performed to demonstrate how cyberbullying manifests in everyday situations, helping the students grasp the concept more effectively. The team also guided the students on how to file complaints through the official Cybercrime Reporting Portal and emphasized the importance of taking proactive and mindful steps to protect oneself in the digital space.
The session witnessed active participation from students, who shared their experiences, raised questions, and engaged in a healthy dialogue with the team members. The school's Principal and faculty extended a warm welcome to the Legal Aid Clinic team and contributed meaningfully to the discussion, acknowledging the relevance and importance of such awareness programmes.
This outreach activity forms part of the Legal Aid Clinic's ongoing mission to promote legal literacy and empowerment among vulnerable sections, particularly school-going children who are exposed to online threats. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Alok Kumar (Chairperson) and Dr. Ruchi Gupta (Faculty Convenor) and student members of the Legal Aid Clinic, HPNLU, Shimla.
