“Shaam-E-Shayari” Poetry Event At The 9th Foundation Week Celebrations
As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 9th Foundation Week (22nd–28th September) at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, a literary event titled “Shaam-e-Shayari” was organized on 24th September 2025 under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, Shimla. The event saw participation from students, dignitaries, and guests, and stood out as a celebration of poetic expression, cultural heritage, and human emotion. The highlight of the evening was the originality and emotional depth displayed by participants, and the judges Smt. Nirmala Thakur and Sh. Gopal Sharma, IAS, who lauded the creative efforts of the students.
The event was hosted by Dr. Ruchi Raj Thakur, Assistant Professor of English at HPNLU, Shimla whose words, “Shaam-e-Shayari, a celebration of verse, emotion, and timeless expression,” set the tone for the evening. The literary session provided a platform for students to share their self-composed poems and shayaris in Hindi, Urdu, and English. Themes such as “Reminiscence of Home”, “The Other Day I Met Humanity”, among others, became conduits for reflection on nostalgia, cultural identity, and the enduring values of compassion and empathy.
Each recitation reflected a creative voice, showcasing lyrical imagination, emotional depth, and literary finesse. The panel of judges offered constructive feedback, commending the young poets for their originality, sensitivity, and ability to use language as a means of social and personal reflection.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena for her continued encouragement of co-curricular excellence, to the judges for their insightful presence, and to all participants whose creative contributions made the evening memorable.
“Canvas-E-Khayal” Poster Making Competition At The 9th Foundation Week Festivities
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, conducted a Poster Making Competition titled “Canvas-e-Khayal” on 25th September 2025, as part of the ongoing 9th Foundation Week celebrations (22nd–28th September). Organized by the Cultural Wing of the Student Enrichment Cell, the competition saw student participation around the theme “Himalayas Meeting Justice”, blending artistic creativity with socio-environmental reflection. The event was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who inaugurated the session, addressed the participants, and distributed certificates and mementos to the winners.
The Vice-Chancellor, in her inaugural address, appreciated the initiative and highlighted the power of poster art as a medium of communication. She emphasized how visual expression fosters thought and facilitates discourse on important themes such as justice and sustainability.
The competition invited students to interpret and illustrate the theme through original artwork that connected the natural majesty of the Himalayas with the principles of justice and cultural heritage. The entries reflected perspectives, combining visual appeal with content.
A panel comprising Dr. Chandrika Singh Thakur, Dr. Rohit Sharma, and Dr. Ved Prakash Sharma evaluated the entries, commending the participants for their imagination, innovation, and thoughtful engagement with the theme. Their observations underscored the role of such platforms in encouraging student expression and promoting socially conscious art.
