    The Legal Aid Clinic and Centre for Environmental Studies, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor, HPNLU, organized an awareness programme, on “Disaster Management in Forests” in the nearby village, Dhami.


    The members interacted with the residents, and the school student of the village, addressing an important issue of Forest Fires, prominent in the hills. The members, while building a rapport with the residents, initiated an interactive discussion with the people who put forth their concerns and issues of forest fires in their vicinity. The residents were informed of the ways to prevent forest fires, the steps to be taken to minimise the damage and helpline numbers for emergency situations. School students of the locality were also enlightened about the problems.


    The initiative got an encouraging response from the people who welcomed the members with appreciating hospitality and showed gratitude towards the outreach efforts. The villagers shared their personal experiences linked to the issue and expressed their positive feedback towards the awareness camp.


    This was another program in the clinic's goal of spreading legal awareness and help, especially to the state's vulnerable and prone-to population. The event was organized by Dr. Alok Kumar, Chairperson of the Legal Aid Committee, Dr. Chandreshwari Minhas, Director of the Centre for Environmental Studies, and Saurabh Sadhwani, Student Convenor of Legal Aid Clinic, HPNLU, Shimla
