Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2025 [Register By 24th March]

Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad Degree College, commonly known as CMP Degree College, is one of the biggest constituent colleges of University of Allahabad. It is one of the premier co-education institutes of Prayagraj imparting quality education in Arts, Science, Commerce and Law catering to the needs of more than 15,000 students per year coming from Prayagraj and adjoining regions of 18 administrative divisions of Uttar Pradesh and other states of India.

The Competition encourages teams of student-advocates to argue fictious legal case, by presenting their legal arguments in front of a bench comprising experts in the relevant field of law. The competition will help in the overall development of a law student as it will inculcate discipline among the students and enhance their speaking and legal research skills. CMP Degree College, Prayagraj offers students from across the country the opportunity to participate in CMP National Moot Court Competition, 2025 and develop an array of drafting, analytical, argumentation and interpretation skills.

TEAM COMPOSITION:

a) To participate in the Competition, each team shall comprise of a minimum of two (where both will be speakers) and maximum of three members (i.e. two speakers and one researcher). It is to be noted that the roles shall remain the same throughout the competition and no change in the team composition will be allowed after the final registration.

b) No team will be allowed to substitute any of its members after a team has filled & submitted the Registration form, except with the permission of the organizers.

ELIGIBILITY

a) Law students enrolled in 3 years LLB programme and 5 years Integrated Law programme from any college/institution/university recognized by BCI across the country.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE:

Online registrations are open from 14th January, 2025. The teams must register online by 24th March, 2025 before 11:59:59 PM. a) Registration shall be in two phases separately for online and offline rounds. Link for registration of teams for offline round shall be provided after online rounds only to the teams advancing to offline rounds.

b) The registration shall be considered complete only when the 'Registration Fee' has been paid successfully and the registration form is duly filled with all the credentials.

c) The participants will receive an official approval mail from organizing committee carrying the 'Team Code' within a week of registration or earlier. The code shall remain the same both for online and offline round, irrespective of two phases of registration. The teams shall quote this team code in all further communications with the organizing committee.

d) The team shall nominate one team member to be the 'contact person'. This person will be responsible for all the official communication between the organizers and the team.

REGISTRATION FEE & PAYMENT DETAILS

The registration fee per team for the online round (pre 1 & pre 2) of the competition is 1500 INR. The teams qualifying for the quarter finals and further (offline round) shall have to pay 3500 INR, (non-refundable).

Registration fee once paid is non-refundable.

CLARIFICATIONS

a) The teams shall seek clarification regarding moot problem/proposition, if any, before the deadline prescribed for the same i.e. 24th March, 2025 (11:59 pm).

b) Queries regarding the particulars of the competition (excluding moot proposition), rules & regulations, registration or any other niche, encountered by the teams, may be asked by mailing it to cmpnmcc@gmail.com or by contacting the faculty coordinators and student coordinators of the event, mentioned in the brochure, any time before 10 pm and after 10 am.

COMPETITION STRUCTURE

The competition shall be bifurcated into the following two stages:

STAGE 1: Preliminary Elimination Round- All the teams registered for the competition are to submit memorials as per the rules of the competition and shall participate in subsequent online Preliminary Round 1 and Preliminary Round 2.

STAGE 2: Advanced Rounds- After careful scrutiny of the memorials as per the prescribed marking scheme and results of the online preliminary rounds, teams shall qualify for the advanced rounds. The advanced rounds commencing from quarter-finals, followed by semi-finals, and finals shall be conducted in offline mode at CMP Degree College, Prayagraj.

MEMORIAL SUBMISSION

a) All memorials submitted for all purposes of the Competition shall firmly comply with the rules of the Competition. Each participating team must prepare two written submissions, one for (Petitioner/Applicant) side and one for Respondent side.

b) Petitioner/Applicant(s) memorials are required to have a Blue Cover and Respondent(s) memorials are required to have Red Cover.

c) Soft copies of the memorials shall be submitted in PDF format latest by 11:59:59 PM on 29th March, 2025. Late submission shall be penalized (05 mark per day) and no memorial shall be accepted after two days from the specified date.

d) Each team has to submit four (4) hard copies (two copies of the memorial on behalf of the petitioners and two copies of the memorial on behalf of the respondents) of the memorials latest by March 29th, 2025 (11:59 P.M. IST), to Faculty of Law (BALLB), CMP Degree College, 12/4 Kamla Nehru Road, Civil Lines Prayagraj -211001

e) The teams qualifying for the Quarterfinals of the I" Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2025 are required to submit four (4) hard copies of the memorials, (two copies of the memorial on behalf of the petitioners and two copies of the memorial on behalf of the respondents) in spiral binding, from each side to the Organizing Committee. The submission must be made at the time of registration at the venue, prior to the commencement of the Quarterfinal rounds.

f) The hard copies must be identical to the soft copies submitted earlier. If any difference found, the team will be penalized or disqualified from the competition.

RESULTS

a) The results will be announced after the completion of each round for all the teams in the preliminary/quarter/semi-final rounds.

b) The Final result and the winners of the various categories will be announced only during the valedictory ceremony to be held on 13th April, 2025.

c) The Certificates of Participation shall be provided to all the teams who have participated in the I" Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2025. E- Certificate of Participation will be provided to all the participants of the Preliminary Rounds and hard copy Certificate of Participation will be provided to all the participants who qualify for the advanced rounds.

d) The teams shall be first differentiated on their win-loss record after the Preliminary Rounds.

e) If there is a tie, the team with the higher aggregate score shall be ranked higher.

f) If the tie subsists, the team with the higher memorial score shall be ranked higher.
