Dharmashastra National Law University Jabalpur Enters Into MoU With Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla

Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) Jabalpur, known for its strong commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, has recently enhanced its academic standing through a strategic collaboration. Following series of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious institutions, DNLU entered into an MoU with HPNLU to encompass exchange of students and faculty members, academic activities, research and publications and develop joint training and research programs. Established in year 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 2018, DNLU aims to advance legal education and uphold the rule of law as per the Indian Constitution. Guided by Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India as its Visitor; Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice of The High Court of Madhya Pradesh, as its Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha as its Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Praveen Tripathi as Registrar. DNLU offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programs.
The HPNLU Shimla, was established by the State Government in the year 2016 Located in the geographical terrains of the Himalayas, HPNLU, Shimla, is one of the best places for studying law in India it is helmed by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena. Prof. Saxena, an accomplished academic, has previously served as Director of the Center of Post Graduate Legal Studies, and she is the former Head of the Department of Human Rights and Dean of the School for Legal Studies at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow . Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor of HPNLU Shimla, is a distinguished legal academic with over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. A Gold Medalist in LL.M. and a Ph.D. in Law, she has held key positions at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow. She has authored two books, edited four, and published over 85 research papers. She has guided 18 Ph.D. scholars and nearly 170 LL.M. dissertations. Recognized with several accolades, including the 'Prashasti Patra' by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, she has represented Indian academia globally and was the only law professor selected for the Government of India's LeAP program. Actively involved in national academic bodies, curriculum design, social justice, and legal aid, she also educates students through her YouTube channel.
Her expertise includes Constitutional Law, Constitutional Governance, Torts, and Human Rights. The MoU was signed on March 29, 2025. The agreement was formalized by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha and Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena. She expressed hope that the partnership would bring significant benefits to both institutions. Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha reciprocated similar thoughts, emphasizing the opportunities this collaboration creates for growth and academic cooperation.
The MoU signed between DNLU and HPNLU aim to synergize their professional capabilities towards capacity building, education, research, and publications in the legal field. The MoU also facilitate exchange programs for students and faculty, collaborative research initiatives, and joint academic events such as seminars, conferences, and moot court competitions.
