Bar Council Of Delhi Declares Tentative Schedule For Elections, Polling Likely In February 2026

The Bar Council of Delhi has declared tentative schedule for its elections, the polling for which is likely to take place on February 13 and 14, 2026.
In a resolution passed on October 09, the Bar Council has said that the move is done to extend full cooperation to the Bar Council of India to give effect to the order of Supreme Court of India.
On September 24, the Apex Court mandated all the State Bar Councils to conduct their long-overdue elections by January 31, 2026.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
- Date of closing the Voters List of Bar Council of Delhi: October 31
- Date of publication of List of Voters: November 05
- Date of filing objections: November 10
- Date of publication of final Voters List of Bar Council of Delhi and declaration of Schedule of Election: November 15
- Filing of Nominations: December 14 till December 20
- Withdrawal of Nominations: December 21 to December 23
- Publication of List of Candidates: December 24
- Date of Polling: February 13 and February 14, 2026
“That we further resolve that in order to give full effect to the order of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, the Bar Council of Delhi expect that the Bar Council of India would appoint the Election Tribunal as conveyed in communication dated 25.09.2025, as soon as possible,” the resolution states.
It adds that in case the Bar Council of India needs any cooperation for appointing the Election Tribunal, the Bar Council of Delhi will extend its full cooperation.
“That it is further resolved that the copy of the provisional electoral roli be also sent alongwith the resolution by circulation for publication by the office of Bar Council of India,” the resolution states.
