Taking note of the rising temperatures, the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa (BCMG) has decided that advocates need not wear their usual dress code of "black coats" from March 1st to June 30, every year.

Notably the "exemption" for lawyers from wearing their usual dress code was earlier only during the summer months of May to June. But this year, the exemption will commence from March 1st.

The BCMG issued a circular on February 27, stating that it has resolved to now extend the exemption from March 1st to June 30th, every year.

It reads, "It is resolved that months of 'summer' for the dress rules shall mean and include the months between March 1st to June 30th. Accordingly, advocates will be exempted from wearing black coats/jackets between March 1st to June 30th, every year."
