CM Siddarmaiah Announces One-Member Commission To Probe Into Stampede At Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium

Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Thursday in a press conference announced the setting up of a one member commission headed by former Karnataka High Court Judge, Justice John Michael Cunha for investigating stampede that occurred on Wednesday outside the Chinnaswamy stadium, ahead of an event to celebrate Royal Challenger Bangalore's (RCB) victory at the 2025 IPL Final, in which 11 people died.
The Chief Minister said the decision was taken at the State cabinet meeting held on Thursday. Justice John Michael Cunha: Born on 7th April, 1959. Appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on 14.11.2016 and Permanent Judge on 03.11.2018.
Further it was said a magisterial inquiry was intiated soon after the incident and the incident was discussed in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday. The police has been directed to take legal action against the representatives of RCB, event organisers DN and Karnataka State Cricket Association. The investigation in the case has been transferred to the CID.
It was also announced that it is decided to suspend Police Commissioner B Dayananda along with other senior police officers.
