    A Delhi Court recently acquitted 30 men in four different FIRs registered in relation to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots, dealing with murder of three men and loot and arson in a medical shop, for lack of proof.

    Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala passed four acquittal orders in a week on May 13, May 14, May 16 and May 17.

    The accused persons have been acquitted in FIRs 37/2020, 36/2020 and 114/2020 registered at Gokalpuri police station as well as in FIR 64/2020 registered at Karawal Nagar police station.

    The acquitted men are Lokesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Sumit Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Pawan Kumar, Lalit Kumar, Rishabh Chaudhary, Jatin Sharma, Vivek Panchal, Himanshu Thakur, Tinku Arora, Sandeep Kumar, Sahil, Munesh Kumar, Sumit, Pappu, Vijay Aggarwal, Saurav Kaushik, Bhupender Pandit, Shakti Singh, Sachin Kumar, Rahul, Yogesh Sharma, Aman, Vikram, Rahul Sharma, Ravi Sharma, Dinesh Sharma and Ranjeet Rana.

    On May 13, the judge acquitted 14 men in FIR 37/2020 registered by an ASI for the murder of one Aamir Ali during the riots.

    The Court acquitted them for the offences of rioting, unlawful assembly and murder. However, it convicted one of the accused, Lokesh Kumar Solanki for the offences under Section 153A and 505 of Indian Penal Code.

    In other three cases, the accused were acquitted of all the charges, for lack of proof as the prosecution could not prove their guilt beyond any reasonable doubt.

    FIR 114/2020 was registered on the complaint of one Imran Sheikh, alleging loot and arson in his medical shop.

    FIR 64/2020 related to the murder of one Shahbaz who was brutally assaulted and burnt alive during the riots. The case was registered on the basis of ASI's statement.

    FIR 36/2020 related to the murder of one Akil Ahmed. His cause of death was opined as shock as a result of ante mortem injury to head produced by blunt force impact. The case was also registered on the basis of ASI's statement.
