The oath taking ceremony of the elected representatives of the Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA) has been stayed till further orders.
The stay has been granted by the Election Tribunal, Rohini Court Bar Association in an order passed yesterday.
The Election Tribunal comprises of Chairman RP Dhania and Members IS Sharma and Indu Shekhar.
Election to all the bar associations in the national capital, including the Delhi High Court Bar Association, was held on March 21.
The development ensued in the election petition filed before the Election Tribunal by various lawyers alleging discrepancies in the poll process.
The petitioners had also filed a writ petition before the Delhi High Court on the issue. In an order passed on March 27, Justice Mini Pushkarna had disposed of the plea with the direction to the petitioners to approach the Election Tribunal.
“Needless to state that the Election Petition shall be decided on its own merits. Further, the respondents shall preserve the records, for the purpose of adjudication of the Election Petition,” the Court had said.
Justice Pushkarna further asked the Election Tribunal to take up the matter for consideration and disposal expeditiously.
On April 01, the petitioners submitted before the Election Tribunal that they had submitted an urgent application in respect of the felicitation ceremony to be celebrated on April 02 at 4 PM wherein the newly elected executive committee of RCBA will be taking the oath.
On this, the Tribunal directed:
“…. considering the contentions of the petitioners raised in the petition in respect of election dated 21.03.2025 by them the Defendants have been restrained to celebrate the oath ceremony till further order of the tribunal,” it said.
