A Court in Meghalaya's Shillong today granted Meghalaya Police a further eight-day custody of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime suspect in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya last month.
Just hours back, 24-year-old Sonam and her alleged four aides [VIshal Chauhan, Raj Kushwaha, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi] were produced before a court in Shillong amid heavy security and now, all of them have been sent to police custody for a period of 8 days. They will remain at Shillong Sadar Police Station.
The crime came to light after the couple, who had tied the knot on May 11, went missing on May 23, while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. They were last seen checking out of a homestay in Nongriat.
A few days later, their rented scooter was found abandoned near Sohrarim. Then, on June 2, around 10 days after their disappearance, Raja's body was discovered in a deep gorge near the Weisawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills.
While Sonam was arrested from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, her aides were apprehended from Indore in Madhya Pradesh for their alleged role in conspiring and killing Raja Raghuvanshi.
