The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in collaboration with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India, successfully conducted the "Mediation for the Nation" campaign across India for 90 days.

Under the esteemed guidance of Supreme Court judge and Executive Chairman, NALSA & MCPC— Justice Suryakant, the campaign aimed to promote mediation as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court, under the leadership of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and the Mediation and Conciliation Committee, witnessed the settlement of 194 cases across various categories. These included 17 cases pending for over 20 years, 26 cases pending for over 15 years, and 31 cases pending for over 10 years.

The drive successfully resolved disputes related to Motor Accident Claim cases, matrimonial cases, service matters, cheque bouncing cases, and civil disputes.

This initiative significantly reduced the burden of old cases pending in the High Court, providing relief to litigants who had been awaiting resolution for years. By promoting mediation as a viable alternative to litigation, the campaign fostered peace and harmony in the community.

The success of the "Mediation for the Nation" campaign in the Punjab and Haryana High Court underscores the commitment to promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and reducing the burden on the judicial system, stated the press note released by the High Court Mediation and Conciliation Committee.
