Haryana-based YouTuber and travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested last week for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies, has been sent to further 4-day police custody by a Court in Haryana's Hisar District. Her 5-day police remand ended today.
Police officials have claimed that the 33-year-old YouTuber, booked under Section 152 of the BNS for endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India, was in contact with some PIOs (Pakistan Intelligence Operatives), and she shared 'sensitive information' with them.
However, the officials have clarified that no direct evidence has been found so far to suggest that she had links with any terrorist organisation.
Currently, the Hisar police officials are investigating the entire case, and while some central investigation agencies are also questioning Malhotra from time to time, her custody remains with the Hisar police.
While a detailed analysis of the accused's four bank accounts is underway, no official comments have been made regarding her financial transactions.
In a press note released yesterday, the Hisar police also refuted the claims made in certain news reports that she had access to any military, defence, or strategic information or that she married any PIO or converted her religion.
Soon after her arrest, the electronic devices seized by the police were sent to the forensic lab for examination, which is still ongoing.
